Costs
What treatment costs — and why nobody quotes a flat price
Billing follows the German scale of fees for physicians (GOÄ). It is the same nationwide: every service has a code, every code a fixed base amount. What ends up on the invoice depends on which examinations are medically necessary in your case.
- Privately insuredYou receive an invoice according to the GOÄ and submit it to your insurer. Medically necessary services are usually reimbursed — the scope depends on your policy.
- Beihilfe (civil servants)Also billed according to the GOÄ; submitted to the allowance office and your supplementary insurer.
- Self-payers and international insuranceYou pay the invoice yourself. Before any service you carry yourself, we discuss the expected cost — no surprise on the invoice.
A serious price list in advance does not exist in medicine: only the examination shows what is needed. What does exist is an open conversation about it before anything is done.

Having medical matters explained in a foreign language is exhausting, and accuracy is lost through an interpreter. Here you speak with the doctor himself — in English, Arabic or German.

Am I in the right place as a private patient?
Yes. The private consultation is open to privately insured patients, civil-servant allowance holders (Beihilfe) and self-payers. Billing follows the German scale of fees for physicians (GOÄ).
How quickly can I get an appointment?
Usually within a few days. You can book online around the clock or call 0201 212222 during consultation hours.
Do you speak English?
Yes. The consultation and examination take place in English directly with the doctor — no interpreter in between. German and Arabic are also available.
What does an examination cost?
Billing follows the GOÄ. The amount depends on which examinations are medically necessary in your case. Before any service you pay yourself, we discuss the expected cost.
Will my private health insurance cover the cost?
Medically necessary services are usually reimbursed by private health insurers. The exact scope depends on your policy. You receive an invoice according to the GOÄ, which you submit to your insurer.
I have international insurance. Can I still be seen?
Yes. In that case you pay the invoice yourself and submit it to your insurer. You receive an itemised invoice according to the GOÄ, which international insurers generally accept.
What should I bring?
Your insurance card or insurance details, a list of your medication, and any previous findings, doctors' letters and imaging relating to your symptoms.
Can I get a second opinion?
Yes. Bring existing findings with you. We put them in context and discuss the options without time pressure — including when the conclusion is that no procedure is needed.
Do you also treat patients with statutory insurance?

What should I do about sudden hearing loss?
Sudden hearing loss in one ear should be examined promptly. Call us during consultation hours. Outside those hours, the German out-of-hours medical service is reachable on 116 117.
